Writing and Storytelling

I have always loved writing and storytelling, starting from early childhood when I became enamored with reading. I started writing for a local magazine in my hometown of Plano, Texas when I was in high school. This experience introduced me to journalism, and I spent the next few years pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University with a double major in English literature. In addition to journalism courses, I wrote and edited for STITCH, our campus fashion publication, serving as Digital Managing Editor then Print Managing Editor. MILKY TREATS: AN ICE CREAM SHOP'S DELICIOUS RISE TO FAME

I got to profile two best friends who opened up an ice cream shop together and discuss how they utilized TikTok and unique branding to continue thriving during the pandemic.

WHERE ARE THE LEHENGAS?

I pitched the idea for an opinion piece on Bridgerton's Indian-inspired fashion (which I personally thought was a big step forward, but was still lacking) and was thrilled when other exec members on our campus fashion magazine wanted to have an accompanying photoshoot with Indian formal wear! This whole multimedia project was such a passion project for me, and I'm in awe that we brought it to fruition.

I'm passionate about covering independent bookstores, especially bookstores that stock a niche array of books and bring visibility to communities such as the Black community that are otherwise marginalized.

KINSEY COLLECTION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN ART

I spoke with world-renowned art collector and philanthropist Bernard Kinsey about the Kinsey Collection of African American Art, one of the largest collections of African American art. It's owned and run by Bernard, Shirley, and their son Khalil. After publication of the piece, I received a personal email from Mr. Kinsey saying my article was the best article that's ever been written about his family and the collection. I was in high school at the time.
